    In 1603 Queen Elizabeth died and the throne passed to the Stuarts.James I was the first Stuart monarch. James didn’t like Parliament and eventually dissolved it. In 1628, after James’ son Charles I took the throne, Parliament was summoned and Charles was forced to sign The petition of rights. It prohibited the king from raising taxes without the consent of Parliament or from imprisoning anyone without just cause.     After the war with the French over the American land ended in 1763, King George III started taxing sending anything over to America in hopes of repaying national debt. In the war, the French had allied with the natives of the American land. The Stamp Act had decided that there shall be no taxation without the peple first being represented in that decision.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A group of angry colonists surrounded the Customs House in Boston to protest British soldiers occupying the town to collect taxes on tea. The group harrased the soldiers and started throwing things. One soldier got hit and accidently discharged his weapon. This caused the rest of the soldiers to panic and fire at the croud, killing 5 people and injuring 3 others.

    America was fed up and the “Intolerable Acts” were more than the colonies could take . So the Americans formed the first continental congress to plan future events. People like Colo. George Washington, Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry, Edmund Pendleton, Colo. Benjamin Harrison, Richard Bland, and leading them Peyton Randolph / A meeting to set tasks and show the grievances of the colonies to the King of England and Parliament / Carpenter’s Hall in Philadelphia / September 5 - October 26 1774.

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the revolutionary war. These battles started by the british attacking the colonists for their arms and ammunition. It was a turning point in the revolution because it was the first victory for the colonists over the british.

    Occured in 1777. French joined the Americans against Britain. The French gave supplies, soldiers, and French warships to the Americans. Spain and Netherlands also added support to the Americans. the two Battles of Saratoga were a turning point in the American Revolution.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The American Representatives, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Henry Laurens and John Adams were at Paris, alongside British Representatives David Hartley and Richard Oswald to make peace. The Treaty was a document drafted in 1782 to end the American Revolution and make peace between Britain and America and their allies, like France, Spain and the Dutch Republic. It was official signed on the 3rd of September, 1783. It’s important to note that this was the official end of the revolution.
