American Revolution

  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    General Gage instructed his men to march along the roads of Lexington to Concord. Minutemen intercept the British in Lexington and engage in battle. Same thing happened in Concord. Lasted 15 minutes. British won Lexington but lost Concord.
  • Battle of Bunker hill

    Deadliest battle of the war. British lost 1000 men, colonists lost 400 some. The British made three different attacks. Only winning the third because the colonists were running low on ammunition.
  • Battle of New York

    British victory. The colonists were greatly outnumbered and untrained. Colonists had to retreat which resulted in them being pushed across the Delaware river into Pennsylvania.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Washington attacked in early morning through storms (which boosted the British confidence in not getting attacked, so they drank) Washingtons troops killed 30 and took almost 1000 captive.
  • Fight for Philadelphia

    British moved to capture the capital of Philadelphia, Washington tried to block the redcoats, but failed. British captured Philadelphia
  • Battle at Saratoga

    Mass Americans surrounded Burgoyne at Saratoga which resulted in Burgoyne surrendering his troops to General Gage, and the British changing their plans. They now stay on the coast next to the big guns.
  • Winter at Valleyforge

    Harsh winter killed about 2000 men of 10000 men. Those who survived remained at their post.
  • British take the South

    With the British move to the south due to changed military plan, they took Charlestown. Among other towns and cities
  • British losses in 1781

    British faced off with the colonists at Cowpens, which the colonists won. Then again at Guilford Courthouse which they won, but untimely the colonists won. That battle lost the British about a fourth of their troops and many were injured or missing.
  • British surrender in Yorktown

    The colonists and the French ambushed the British in Yorktown. The battle lasted three weeks but toward the end the ratio of British to colonists was large. So Cornwallis raised a white flag in surrender.
