    French and. Indian War
    The French and the British went to war in the mid-1700s. This war was known as the seven years war, but the American front was called the French and Indian War. The British and colonists went to war with France and Indian allies over control of the frontier in the Ohio River valley.

    In order to avoid being forced in to another war to protect colonists on the frontier King George declared that colonists would not be permitted to settle west of the Appalachian mountains.
