The battle took place after George Washington’s Crossing the Delaware river north of Trent in the previous night. After this battle almost 2/3 of Hansons force was captured with few losses to the Americans. After winning the battle morale was boosted and inspired re-enlistments.

The outnumbered militia of 1,000 soldiers went up against roughly 2,300 British soldiers. Then the Americans took heavy losses during a retreat.

The British army left New York after the end of the American revolution. After they left George Washington let the Continental Army through the streets of New York.

In the Pennsylvania State House the first guidelines for our government were being made and discussed by the 13 colonies. George Washington was then elected as the First President of The United States.
