Tension between Britain and France caused a war over independence and territory. The French were trying to expand into British territory which caused problems with the colonies. The expansion into the Ohio River Valley was the start of war. William Pitt and his British army were victorious after several years of battle gaining land and territories.

The Treaty of 1763 ended the French and Indian War. The French lost all of their territory including mainland of North American, Quebec and the Ohio River Valley. This gave up the French being any kind of threat the Britain.
