    Great Britian was in Debt After the American Revolution. This was a way for them to pay their war debts. It put a three cent tax on foreign refined sugar. This angered the colonists because they wanted a say in how much they were taxed.

    The stamp act was another way to get Great Britian out of their was debts. It put a tax on all paper products. Again the colonists wanted a say in this taxation.
  • townshend acts

    the townshend acts were acts that were passed in 1767. The first was on June 29th. they put tax on glass, tea paper and lead.
  • The Boston Massacre

    On March 5th 1777 five colonists were killed by british soldiers. The soldiers said it was self defense. This sparked outrage and practically started the war.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The boston tea party was when all the tea that the British had was dumped into boston Harbour. This Caused the Intolerable Acts.
  • The intolerable acts

    This was a series of acts that were set in 1774. It closed boston Harbour, and cancelled their charter. This wasnt just taxes anymore. This put more anger into the colonies, not make them obey like the British intended. It was called the cohersive acts by the British.

    This was a meeting of delagates from all the colonies, except Georgia. They met to discuss what to do about the "intolerable acts" The sent the bill or rights and greivances to the king. They would meet later to discuss his reply.

    The second continental congress met to discuss the results of the first. They had none so they made the olive branch petition, the continental army, and they made a five mad team to declare independence.
  • The Battle of Bunker hill

    This battle was actually fought on breeds hill. The British suffered much more casualties, bu were considiered the victors because they gained control of the hill on the third Charge.

    Thomas Paine wrote a phaphlet called common sense. It was relatable and understandable to the common person. This gave much more support for the revolution.

    The declaration was finnaly approved and sighned. this was the official start of the American Revolution. The founding Fathers put their lives at risk by sighning this.
  • Battle of Trenton

    This is Washingtons famous crossing of the Delaware. His army was waek and battered, and winter was setting in. Nobody was expecting an attck. Two men froze to death on the way there. This was a major victory for the Americans.

    The British army was outnumbered, but in the end they occupied the feild, winnig the battle.

    The Americans set up blockade causing the british to take a "detour" but they easly captured the City anyway.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The Americans Heavily outnumbered the British. They forces the surrender of The British forces. This was a major victory of the american revolution that many considier the turning point of the war.
  • winter at valley forge

    In the winter of 1777-1778 the continental army stayed at valley forge for the winter. They struggled to survive. It made them a much better army though.
  • john paul jones captures surpias

    On september 23rd John Paul Jones captured the surpias. This was a major naval victory. The battle lasted four hours.
  • British capture Charlestown

    The British captured Charlestown and most of south Carolina rushed back to the British side.

    This was the last major battle of the American Revolution. The Americans won.

    This was the treaty the ended the American Revolution. It stated that America was An independent country. Finnaly the American Revolution was over and A country could emerge.
