    King George III declared that the colonists could not go west of the Appalachian Mountains to prevent any more conflicts with the Native Americans.

    Lowered the tax on foreign molasses and sugar to help with the problem of smuggling. Colonists still boycotted the tax.

    1st Direct tax by the British Parliament on the American colonies. Taxed legal documents, playcards, dice, licenses, and diplomas.

    Parliament declared that they had a right to rule and tax the colonists.

    Import tax passed by Parliament that taxed lead, paper, paint, glass, and tea. All of these would be repealed except the tax on tea.

    56 delegates from 12 colonies(Georgia sent no delegates) met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to discuss how to help the situation in the colonies following the Coercive Acts.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    British soldiers were ordered to arrest Sam Adams and John Hancock at Lexington and then confiscate the weapons stored at Concord. Minutemen met the British soldiers at Lexington with a shot from an unknown source. The exchange of gunfire led to the killing of several minutemen.     2nd meeting of delegates to discuss how to resolve the relationshi between the colonies and Great Britain. Would ultimately decide for separation and would act as the government for the colonies during the American Revolution

    Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys were able to capture the fort with no conflict since the British soldiers were sleeping. Ticonderoga possessed several cannons that would be used to take back Boston from the British.

    Cornwallis trys to capture Washington's camp, but Washington leaves at night by keeping some men behind with fires still burning. Washington was able come up behind to drive Cornwallis away.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    Turning point of the American Revolution. It stopped the British divide and conquer attack, and was a big victory over British. Shortly after, the French would bring supplies and troops to fight alongside the colonists.
