  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Tension started building up after British soldiers arrived and tried to enforce the Kings laws. Many Colonists were angry and finally decided to step up their game, in hope of becoming free. A crowd of colonist threw objects at a British office and insulted British soldiers which then provoked them to shoot and kill five of the violent protesters.

    The Boston Tea Party
    The British Government started taxing tea and it upset everybody but the government didn’t care so a group of people went on to a shipment of taxed tea and threw it all in the water. This was important because it showed the anger of the citizens towards the government and the outcome was anger from the government.

    The British Parliament, in response to the Boston Tea Party, made several acts which many colonists felt were a violation of their rights. A huge majority of the colonists were enraged by this doing. Since many colonists were angered, it was part of the start of the American Revolution.

    Common Sense was Written
    Paine starts the first section with the distinction between the government and society. In the second section he considers monarchy from a biblical point of view. Third section he observes the problems between England and the American colonies, and argues that independence is the best course of action. The fourth section of Paine's pamphlet was his view of the military potential during the time of the revolution.

    The Declaration of Independence was signed
    The Colonist’s government came together and wrote a list of all the reasons they were seceding from Britain, called the Declaration of Independence. This proved to the British that the Colonists were serious, and they were not going to back down.

  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    This lasted 6 months, ending on the 19th of June, 1778.
    Planned in partial secrecy, George Washington took his 11,000 troops through the Delaware river on Christmas Day to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, a surprise attack on the British who were celebrating the holidays at the time. This helped boost the morale of the Colonists, and inspired the French to intervene and assist with winning the war.

    Battle of York Town
    This battle ended on October 19, 1787. This was the last battle of the revolutionary war that made Cornwallis and the British surrender to the Americans. This was known as Washington’s greatest victory. The French were a big part in this battle because they sided with the Americans and fought the British. Nobody expected the Americans to win against what was known as the greatest army in the world at the time.

    The end the war happened in Yorktown, Virginia. The British were surrounded Americans on land, and in the ocean they were surrounded by the French.

    This Document established the United States as its own country. Articles of confederation were written before this but the colonies fell into chaos and tried to become more independent. The founding fathers were called to make a new document to keep the colonies together. Thus the constitution was made.
