The event cannot be forgotten because 80% of New Orleans got flooded because of it, 1 million people were displaced, and the economic cost ended up being hundreds of billions of dollars. An elite American military unit entered the hideout where Osama Bin Laden was hiding in Abbottabad, Pakistan. American forces shot and killed Osama Bin Laden after a brief fire fight. This ended one of the longest manhunts in American history. This will forever be remembered as it brought the US to more safety from foreign terrorism, as Laden ordered the attack on USS Destroyer Cole and was responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

The case was between the Ohio Department of Health and James Obergefell. Justice Kennedy, the 5-4 swing vote, stated that the right to marry was a fundamental right guaranteed by the constitution and thus no state could deny a same-sex couple the right to marry. This was significant because the United States finally paid respect to the LGBTQ community who has been fighting for the right to free marriage for years. This created a rapid change in public attitudes towards same-sex marriage.

Trump was in disbelief that he lost the election to Biden and started a claim that the election was stolen, which many of his supporters believed despite no evidence. This escalated further when Trump held a rally in front of the capitol when Congress was certifying the electoral votes, when he led his crowd to riot the capitol. This event was a huge threat to our democracy being taken over by domestic terrorism. We still could have lost our democracy that day because of brainwashed Americans.
