  • Telephone

    It dates back when two inventors named Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell both invented devices that could transmitt speech electrically. The importance was that instead of talking face to face telephones were a faster and better way to talk especially being in rural areas.
  • Computers

    The first computers were basically used for solving mathematical equations. In 1943 a guy began to develop of the (ENIAC) Electronic Numerical Integrator Analyzer and Computer. But around the 1950's it was really when it came out. In todays computers and with the advanced technology theres so much you can do.
  • Cars

    Cars go way back from the late 1800's but not until in the mid 20's when cars changed the way of transportation throught America. It made it better for Americans, Henry Ford was the first to develop a combustion engine onto a automobile. Later on Henry Ford founded the Ford motor company.
  • The Great Migration

    6 million African Americans migrated to the north from the south, most of them moved to the big cities such as New York, Chicago, Detriot. This lead them to move to the north because down in the south they were experiencing rasicm and terrorism with the KKK.
  • 18th Amendment

    This prohibited the distribution of alcohol and selling it, it caused a lot of crimes, gangsters were taking advantage of the black stock market. Alcohol was a problem because there was too much of domestic violence was going on especially with Women.
  • 19th Amendment

    This gave women the right to vote. but this was a big struggle for them they were fighting for their rights, but another problem was that president Woodrow Wilson did not agree to let women vote. at the end the women got their right just like the men.
  • Radio

    Radio's it became well known around in the mid 20's, Radios made it possible for people to listen about what was going on around the world, but it just wasn't for worldy news but also for entertainment. The first broadcasting station was opened in Pittsburgh in 1922.
  • Emergency Quota Act

    Reduced immigration to 3% of each race already living in the united states, in response to extreme levels of immigration from eurpoe, Woodrow Wilson was president when this was passed.
  • Immigration Act 1924

    This act reduced immigration to 2% of each race living in the United States, it was a period of time where racism was happening alot. immigrants expect something good instead they found themselves struggling, This act was more linnet to Europeans than any other race.
  • Television

    Televisions were made so that people could actually see and know what is going on but with actual imageses so that there would be a better understanding at the begining people were fasicnated with the new inventions.
  • Black Thursday

    The stock market loses 11% of total value, it was caused by investors that were desprate to sell, Although the economy lost a billion of dollars. 2% of the population invested in the stock market.
  • Black Tuesday

    The stock market loses 12 more percent. People invested money that they didnt even have, this was also the start of the Great Depression. 33 billion dollars were lost in 2 days!
  • Hoover Dam

    Hoover Dam was constructed from 1931 to 1936 which is when it was opened. This project put 40 thousand employees to work. Pipes were put in Hoover Dam to cool down the concrete. This also provides electricity in Las Vegas and in California.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt elected President

    This was the time when Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected as president, On March 4, 1933 to April 12 1945. He actually wanted to put America back on its feet, ending the depression. In 1945 he died just about at the end of the Great Depression.
  • 1933- (State of Economy)

    This was the worst that the economy has ever been. 25% unemployment rate. As well people lost millions of dollars.
  • 21 Amendment

    The first amendment appealed to the 18th amendment and over turned prohibition, it was the only amendment that was passed from the consitution and was over turned.
  • GI Bill Of Rights.

    This gave people cheap loans to buy houses, it was part of new deal at the time. This provided good benefits for veterans who were returning from world war 2. It also made the suburbs grow because of big families.
  • Frisbees

    It really goes way back when a company made pies for colleges and the students soon discovered that the empty tins could be tossed and cought playing for hours as a s game. A guy named Walter Frederick Morrison and his partner invented the frisbees that could fly way further and better accuracy.
  • Internet

    It started back when the U.S. and Russia were launching "sputnik" satellite, America felt threatened and decide to create (DARPA) which stands for Defense Advanced Research Project Angency. but the internet really came out in the late 1980's.
