    In 1807 the first internal combustion engine was built. Cars help move people from one place to another. Most cars have enough room for 4 passengers. The car requires gasoline.
  • Telephone

    The telephone allowed you talk to people who can be far way. Many people have cell phones now days. The telephone has evolved and are now cordless.
  • Computer

    The computer has made life for so many people easier. With the computer you can serf the web with the click of a mouse.
  • Radio

    The radio was discovered when David Huges noticed that the sparks can be heard through the telephone reciever. Thomas Edison continued with that and made the radio. The radio lets us listen to music and hear other people talk.

    The Great Migration

    African Americans were experiencing great rascism and they wanted to leave the South and head for the North. Even when they got to the North there was still rascim. They got jobs when the white men left for WWI.
  • 18th Amendment

    This amendment was the prohibition act. This act was manly for prohibiting alcohol. Because of this act there was a lot of crimes because people were making it illegally. The government was also losing money because they couldn't tax the illegal alcohol.
  • 19th Amendment

    This act stated that you cannot be denied to vote based on sex. Its funny because the right tp vote based on race was passed before this act, so black women could not vote. It took 40 years for congress to ratifiy the amendment.
  • Emergency Quota Act

    This limited immigration to only 3%. Most of everyone living in the US were European so a lot of Europeans moved here. Only if there was enough of that race already there.
  • Immigration Act of 1924

    It was a law that limited that amount of immigrants into the US. President Coolidge. It also superseded the Emergency Quota Act.

    Black Tuesday and Thursday

    Black Tuesday was the most devestating stock market crash in US history. It was the start of the Great Depression. Due to many people buying stocks and selling them at high prices nobobdy wanted to buy them and the investors wanted to sell them but nobiody would buy them.

    With the televsion you can watch something that is not happening near you. TV has became a place for advertising and tv shows. Becasue of the TV obesity has gone up.

    Hoover Dam

    The cost for the Hoover Dam was $49 million dollars. The cost was also 100 lives. The Dam also helped us create new methods of construction.
  • State of the Economy during 1933

    During 1933 many banks were unable to give all the money people wanted when they were panicking. Due to this FDR made a nation wide bank holiday to get rid of the stress.
  • Franklin D Roosevelt elected president

    FDR beat Hover by a lanslide. When he was elected it was one of the worst times in economic history for America. Besides just the economy he also had to deal with Hitler aswell.
  • 21st Amendment

    This Amendment repealed the prohibition on alcohol. They mande this amendment because they prohibition of it cause many problems. They government was not making any money, so many people were not following the law, and the crime rate was high. The government started taxing it when it was legal again and they made a lot of money.
  • G.I. Bill of Rights

    This bill stated that all soliders that served in the military for at least 90 days and were not dishonarbly discharged were intitled to low-cost mortgages, loans to start a business or farm, cash payments of tuition and living expenses to attend college, high school or vocational education, as well as one year of unemployment compensation. By the 1956 roughly 8.8 million soldiers used the bill.
  • Invention of the Frisbee

    College Students in New England were bored so they figured out that the empty pie tins could be tossed and played with. But a Yale undergraduate Elihu Frisbie was clamied to be the true inventor in 1820. Many people to this day still claim to invent it.
  • Internet

    The government was experimenting with the internet. It didn't go public unitl 1990. The internet lets uses browse the web and search for almost anything we need. About one quarter of the human race uses the internet.
