  • Telephone

    The telephone was patended in 1876 by alexander granham bell. It was only a year late that telephone lines were to be constructed along with the first switch board allowing communcation over long distances. By the early 1900s over 600,000 people owned a telephone.
  • Car

    The car was first created in 1885.The first mass produced car was invented by Henry ford. While he did not invent the technology to create the car, he was the first to assemble it, and assemble it as mass rates.

    The great migration was period of time in which black people in the U.S migrated north from the south. This was due to major racist views still within the south. It was also due to the fact that black people could have a better quality of life in the north compared to that of the south.

    18th amendment/21st amendment

    The 18th amendment was labeled as prohibition. While popular at the time of its signing in it quickly became a nuissance for the American populus. As a result of prohibition gangsters came to be very common and bootleggers where at an all time high. It wasn't until 1933 that prohibition was revoked via the 21st amendment. This amendment was signed into law by FDR and was considered by many a great event in history.
  • 19th amendment

    The 19th amendment was that of womens sufferage. This amednment allowed women to vote in any politcal specturm. It took over 100 hundred years since Americans found for this amendment to pass.
  • Emergency Quota Act

    The emergency qutoa act was a law passed by the U.S to bar off a % of immigrants from crossing into America. This law passed because of the large number of migrants coming from Europe, and the disposition of the "native" Americans towards them.
  • Immigration Act 1924

    The johnson-reed act signed into law by coolidge allows only 2% of each nationality entry into the U.S. This act also made immigration officers more discresion in who they rejected. This law allowed every nationality except asians entry into the U.S based on %.
  • Television

    The first television was designed by Philo Taylor Farnsworth. The television was crude at first as it recorded images with a beam of electrons produing a poor quality image of the object scanned. The television at this time was transmited by radio waves to each household that had one.
  • Blackthursday

    Black tuesday is the day of the stockmarket crash in 1929. This crash was prompted by the decreasing value in real estate. As the value of real estate went up houses were up in price, but this had reached its peak and the value dropped. People still paid top dollar prices for the stock without knowing it was worth far less.

    Black touesday was the day the stock market completely crashed, and over 100 billion dollars had simply vanished. During this time paniced stock holders began selling all their stock or trading it. As a result of the massive amount of rading/selling the stock lost almost all value in every company.
  • Hoover dam

    Hoover dam was built in order to prevent spring time floods and the production of hydroelectric energy. The dam consists of more than 5 million tons of concrete. Orignally named the boulder damn, was renamed hoover dam in 1947 .
  • FDR

    Fdr was the first and last president to ver hold the office for more than two terms. He was elected during the great depression, and in response passed a series of new laws to alleviate the economic turmoil. in 1945 he had died of cerebral hemorrhage.
  • 1933 American economy

    It's post depression, and production/output is at an all time low. Inflation has skyrocketed, and unemployment is over 20%. Industrial production dropped 47%, and national GDP dropped 30%. During this time the poor were strained to the point of desperation, and would take up any job avialable even the most dangerous of ones.
  • Computer

    The computer orginated as the first high performance calculator. It was very expensive, and took up extraordinary amounts of space. Since it's creation the computer has become a necessity in modern day society in terms of education, communication, and work.
  • GI Bill of Rights

    The Gi bill of rights was an act passed by FDR in 1944 shortly after world war 2. It was a controversial bill at the time, as college was reserved for the rich.This act made it far more possible for veterans to recieve an education.
  • Frisbee

    While it is undetermined who really invented the frisbee, the most notable is Walter morrison. He had invented a gliding disk known as the pluto plater. It would only be years after it's invention tha the toy company Wham-o bought the rights to the pluto plater and began production of it in 1957.
  • Internet

    The internet began in the 60s and was used by researchers to share information. While formed for the purpose of research it was later utilized as a way of communication should a nuclear war break out between the U.S and russia. Because of this paranoia the group known as arpanet was formed to design this information highway.
