    Integration of the University of Alabam
    In June of 1963 African American students attempted to desegregate Alabama university. Alabama's new governor and several law enforcement officers blocked the door of the enrollment office. JFK then got the National Guard to force the desegregation.

    JFK was assassinated in his car on November 22, 1963. He was campaigning for his Re-election in Texas when he was killed. He was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald

    The Black Panther Party or BPP was created in mid October of 1966. The group was a black nationalist and socialist organization. It was active in the United States until 1972.

    Protest of the Vietnam War Speech
    On Octover 21, 1967 there was a protest of the Vietnam war. Abbie Hoffman was a American political and social activist who spoke at the protest. Over 100,000 people gathered to hear the speech.

    On July 20th American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon. This was the first successful attempt by America in the space race. The ship stayed on the moon for a day before making its descent

    George Wallace was the Governor of Alabama. He was involved in the protest of the Integration at Alabama University. The attempt on his life was made on January 16th, 1967 but was unsuccessful despite leaving his permanently paralyzed.

    During Nixon's presidency a break in at the Watergate Hotel occurred. The Watergate Hotel served as the headquarters for the Democratic National Committee. Despite the truth, Richard Nixon tried to cover up the scandal, claiming that he had nothing to do with the the break in.

    The Watergate scandal occurred and started a lot of controversy within the White House. Information was later released that Richard Nixon was aware of the scandal. He then resigned on August 9th 1974 ending his second term early.

    Hurricane Carmen was the most intense tropical storm of 1974. It affected many Southern States and Mexican countries. It formed August 9th and dissipated on September 10th.

    AIDS Outbreak
    In the 80s a new virus started to gain popularity and 217 cases were reported within the first year. This virus was later found out to be the AIDS virus. The cause was also found in the 80s and despite their previous hypothesis, the most common cause was shared needles used for injecting substances into the blood stream.
