American History 1921-1941:

  • Great Depression Begins

    The bank system in America failed and the stock market completely crashed which led to widespread poverty in the United States.
  • Black Tuesday

    The New York Stock exchange crashed leading to mass panic, causing the United States to begin the Great Depression.
  • Severe Drought and Dust Bowl

    Severe drought led to all the topsoil in the middle parts of America drying out and turning to dust. This dust combined with wind caused huge dust storms that affected the food supply and people's health.
  • Star Spangled Banner becomes National Anthem

    While this may not have been a major historical event, it did help to unify the country in hard times such as the great depression and being between two world wars.
  • Bonus Expeditionary Force Protests at Capital

    Veterans from World War 1 were in poverty and extremely affected due to the Great Depression. Many didn't even have food to eat, so they protested at the capital.
  • Franklin Delano Roosevelt Elected

    Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected in office and helped Americans deal with the Great depression.
  • National Labor Relations Act

    This act was enacted to protect the rights of workers and help advocate for these rights with things such as strikes.
  • Bombing of pearl Harbor

    The Japanese bombed Pear Harbor in Hawaii in an attempt to take over the pacific islands. This event got the United States to join World War 2.
