    Magna Carta

    The magna carta is also known as the great charter it is a important document that everyone is subject to law it also guarantees everyone's rights and a fair law which would relate to the sixth amendment which sets laws so u get a fair public trial and gives rights to a lawyer and the right to know what your being accused of and by who and evidence.
  • Mayflower Compact

    41 of the passengers on the ship signed the Mayflower Compact. All of the people who signed were male. The Mayflower Compact was the first written document providing people government which became the United States. It started on the path toward the democratic republic and it served as the foundation for the Constitution. The Mayflower Compact established that the colonists would remain loyal to King James, instead their need for self government.
  • Fundamental Orders of Connecticut

    Described the government set up by the river towns. They wanted the government to have open access to the open ocean trading. They formed a confederation under the guidance of god. It would relate to the constitution because of the commerce trade. It would let you trade things from the foreign countries.

    The English bill of rights was created in 1689. these rights were put in to protect the people. in the English bill of rights and in the constitution the 8th amendment is protects people from cruel and unusual punishment.

  • Albany Plan of Union

    It was funded by the treasury of Great Britain. The Parliament wanted to tax on colonies to help pay for defenses in north America. It was placed in British north American colonies in a more centralized government. It would help bring together colonies during debates.
  • First Continental Congress

    Organize boy cot of British goods for each colony. Enforced the non-exportation of American goods to Britain till colonies gravies were addressed. Ratifies the first national constitution. Colonies were ready if fight broke out. Delegates would speak for the colonies.
  • Second Continental Congress

    issued declaration of independence declaring the united states free from Britain. Lead by Jon Handcock. Started noon after the American revolutionary war. they helped develop armies with strategy. Was the first part of the constitution.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Adopted by the second continental congress. Explained the separation from great Britain. Lists people have rights that can not be taken away and that colonies are free. All delegates signed the bottom. Related to the constitution because it was part of how we gained freedom from great Britain.

    stated the united states was free. Established a weak national government. Congress can not draft soldiers or regulate trade. there were problems with the confederation. There were three articles which were legislate judicial, executive.
  • Virginia Plan

    Was also known as the vandolph plan. Outlined a strong national government with the three branches. States with a larger population would have more representatives. Smaller states were not a fan of the larger ones getting more reps. Which related to the constitution in article one section one.
  • Three-fifths compromise

    Agreement between delegates from northern and southern states at the constitutional convention. Three-fifths of the slave population would be counted for determining direct taxation and representation. James willson of pennsylvanian proposed the three-fifths compromise. Was not successful. Related to the constitution article 1 section 2.
  • New Jersey Plan

    Was a proposal for structure of united states gov by william patterson at the constitutional convention. Proposed that each state have one vote wanted it to reflect equal representation. Called for two houses of congress. Was favored by New York, connecticut, delaware and new jersey. Was part of the making of the constitution.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    A uprising led by Daniel says in western massachusetts. Protested the foreclosures of farms for debt and briefly succeeded in shutting down court system. Happened mostly around spring feild. Main effect it had was it caused the calling of the constitutional convention.
