The Cold War was from 1947- 1991; a period of great rivalry between the emerging superpowers Russia and the United States. The two emerging powers were in a state of high political and military tension. The Cold War began after World War when the USSR and US were left as the World's two superpowers, but with their profound economic and political differences tension great rapidly causing much conflict. -

The Korean War was a war between the Republic of Korea, supported by the United Nations, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The war was sparked by the result of the political division of Korea by an agreement of the victorious Allies at the end of World War II. -
Vietnam War
Vietnam was a proxy was that occurred in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The war was fought between North Vietnam (supported by the Chinese and other communist allies) and South Vietnam (supported by the United States and other anti-communist countries). The U.S. became involved in the war when the government viewed the American involvement in the war as a way to prevent a communist takeover of South Vietnam. Many Americans were greatly opposed to this war. -

The Gulf War was a 6 month conflict that was also known as Operation Desert Storm. The Gulf War was a war waged by a U.N.-authorized coalition force involving 34 nations being led by the United States. The Gulf War was against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait. -
War On Terror: War in Afghanistan
The War on Terror: War in Afghanistan started in 2001 after the bombing of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The war started by the intervention of NATO and allied forces in the Afghan political struggle, following 9/11 to dismantle terrorist groups and remove the Taliban government. The U.S. refused negotiations and launched Operation Enduring Freedom along with the United Kingdom later Germany and other western allies to attack the Taliban and al-Qaeda forces.
