    This law states that no state law or school board should require children to learn and recite the bible or Lord's Prayer in public schools. This is an important event that came up. It would help shape the multicultural history in education because it isn't making christianity the dominant religion.
  • Cuban Revolution

    Cuban Revolution
    This event led to the first bilingual and bicultural school at Coral way Elementary school. Prior to this event, there was a huge immigration move from Cuba into Florida.
  • Project Head Start

    This event for children that come from low-income families. In the multicultural education, there are many underprivileged children so this event helped give the children a more equal chance of learning. It was an eight week summer program for pre-schoolers.
  • Higher Education Act

    Higher Education Act
    The Higher Education Act promoted increase in federal aide to families with low-income including scholarships and student loans. This act started at SouthWest Texas State college.
  • Diana v. California State Board

    Diana v. California State Board
    This was one of the first laws issuing special education. In Diana v. California State Board event, there were new laws made requiring that children that had possibility for special education placement be tested in their primary language. This event is important because it is the start of including children with disabilities.

    This event allowed students with retardation to go to opened public schools. This made a huge impact on educations history because this is when mentally disabled kids were first allowed in the public education. Meaning everyone has a right to learn!

    The gifted and talented education is issued. This event led to the kind of special classes we have for children with a higher learning average. An Example would be the honors program.

    The Equal Educational Opportunites Act was the start of prohibiting discrimination. This event helped a lot with trying to make things as equal as possible to all cultures.

    This even formed the first charter school. This is important because charter schools started forming.
  • The Higher Education Act

    The Higher Education Act was re-evaluated again in the 2003. It was reauthorized and included both low-income and middle class students and it holding them more accountable.
