    The Magna Carta was created in England by serfs to limit the king and future kings power. Parts and ideas of the Magna Crata are found in other American documents. This relates to the American Dream by being a document were people fought back and protected their own rights to pursue happiness.

    Settlers came to America to seek religous freedom and to make money. This relates to the American Dream by wanting a better life than their parents to practice and choose their own religion and making their own money by working hard.

    The First Amrican Lottery was introduced to Jamestown by the king to help the colony. This is how the American dream started to change in to the new American Dream by getting rich quick.

    Industialization intorduced factories and machines. It also intorduced a new type of work and a new type of work ethic. This changed the American Dream because now skilled workers were no longer needed.

    The Declaration of Independence was the document from America saying that it was now independent from England. This relates ro the American Dream by declaring Americans freedom and with this freedom they could work hard and to live the American Dream.

    The Census Bureau pronoced that there was no longer any land that could be claimed and that everyone had finally moved west and meet the coast. This helps the transition into the American Dream by limiting the possibality of getting land to farm on people would now have to stay in cities and work in big bussiness.

    During World War Two people put their money in to war bonds and woman went to work. After the war the money came in people becoming rich quick there was a high need of homes and suburbs were created. There was an ethical shift and this was when the American dream had fully changed.

    Who wants to be a Millionaire shows the New American Dream by getting rich quick just by knowledge of various topics not by woking hard like the Old American Dream.
  • MTV Reality TV Shows

    These TV shows have made America want to have a luxurious life and the want to be a well like celebrity added on to the American Dream.
