During World War I she served as a nurse in a Canadian field hospital.

Amelia studied at the University of Columbia, New York.

In October 1922 she achieved her first altitude record, flying at 4267 metres.

In 1928, Earhart became the first female passenger to cross the Atlantic in an aeroplane.

In 1932, piloting a Lockheed Vega 5B, Amelia made a non-stop solo transatlantic flight, becoming the first woman to achieve such a feat. She received the United States Distinguished Flying Cross for this achievement.

In January 1935, she made a solo crossing between Honolulu (Hawaii) and Oakland (California).

In 1937, Amelia Earhart announced that she would attempt to circumnavigate the globe using a different route than usual. They began the journey on 1 June 1937, flying from Miami (Florida) to South America, from there to Africa and then to the East Indies.
After completing 33,000 kilometres in 30 days, more than two-thirds of the journey, her plane disappeared in a storm on 2 July, on the penultimate leg of the trip, which was to take them from Lae (New Guinea) to Howland Island, off Australia. -
Disappeared on 2 July 1937 and declared dead on 5 January 1939, when her bones were found on the island of Nikumaroro.
