In 1931 Alvin Ailey was born. He would soon become an American modern dancer and choreographer.

Avin moved to New York in 54. He went there to study dance with Martha Graham and Charles Weidman and acted with Stella Adler.

In 1958 he formed his own comany. It is called the American Dance Theater, it was made for all nationalities aroud the world since 1963.

In 1961 Alvin Ailey created the Roots of the Blues. That and many other of his masterpieces was a hit.
