    The Swiss Confederation was founded. This created a permenant alliance with Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden. This alliance will then be used later in the world wars.

    Gained its indepence during the France Revolution when bastille was stormed. Bastille was a famous prison where political prisoners were held.

    The Grimaldi family first got control of what is now Monaco in 1297, but they did not permantely secure their holding until 1419. Monaco remained a protectorate until 1860 when Monaco was ceded to France.
