    In The 1930's his father was deported and then almost immediately brought back into the U.S to fight in World War II. When his father came back to the U.S had Alfredo with his mom. I am unable to find the names of his parents.

    Education and Early Involvement

    Alfredo put together walk outs and other protests during his school years over unconventional classes and racial tensions between Mexican Americans and African Americans. During his school years anytime something happened the principal would always go straight to Alfredo and his friends because, they were always into some kind of mischief.

    The Movement

    Alfredo spent his time on college campuses protesting for majority of the 60's in Arizona. He protested Racism towards Mexican Americans and protested hatred between African Americans and Mexican Americans.Until he was elected Democratic Senator of Arizona in 1972.

    Career

    In 1976 Gutierrez was elected to the Arizona Senate where he stayed in leadership until 1986 where he denied running for re-election. In 2000 he sold his consulting firm to become a full time lobbyist. He also ran for Arizona Governor in 2002 as the democratic candidate. Alfredo is now currently working as the president of the Maricopa County Community College board.

    At age 73 Alfredo Gutierrez is still alive and fighting for immigration. He is no longer the senator of Arizona but is a lobbyist.
