    Alexandre Dumas was born July 24, 1802, he was born in Villers - Cotterets , Picardy, France. His parents were Marie Louis Dumas and Thomas Dumas. Thomas unfortunately died and widowed Marie, making it impossible for the education Alexandre needed. However, Alexandre always had a passion to read and he read so much that he decided to become an author later on.

    His life began when in 1822 young, Alexandre in his twenties, decided to move to Paris, where he began to work at the Palais Royal, in an office of Louis Philippe. It started off small, writing magazines and even plays for a local theater but his work was progressively getting bigger. In 1829, he was able to obtain his first play as the producer because of this he got a second showing, where he was able to have the privilege of starting to write full time.

    In 1830, Alexandre took part in the Revolution, overthrowing Charles X, and becoming the new head of throne. 1838, Dumas rewrote one of his plays to get his first serial novel started, Le Capitaine Paul.

    February 1, 1840, Alexandre married an actress, Ida Ferreira. Although he had a wife now, he continued to have affairs with other women. He was a father to four children, though one of his many children, his son, would see Alexandre as his main role model and because of this he became a very successful novelist and playwright. Alexandre’s death date marked December 5, 1870.
