The city-states begin to rebel against the Macedonians and Alexander burns the city, kills the male population and enslaves the women.

He wants to fulfill his father's dream of conquering the Persian empire. He borrows money to support his army for a month because they were broke.

He leads his army against the Persians at the Granicus river. After savage fighting they Persians retreat and Alexander's army moves south and frees some cities from Persian rule.

In gordium he solves the puzzle of the guardian knot, which held together the yoke and pole of a wagon that once belonged to king Midas. The story says that whoever solves the puzzle will rule all of Asia.

After conquering Syria, he goes south and easily conquers Egypt and there names a city after himself. This city is meant to be a hub for Greek commerce and culture.

Alexander meets King Darius in Gaugamela in a decisive battle. Darius is overwhelmed by Alexander's battle skills and orders his men to flee and Alexander wins. Later he conquers Babylon on his way to other major cities.

Alexander gets drunk because of all the pressures of battle, he has an argument with Cleitus and accidentally stabs him. He is filled with remorse and all of his soldiers now fear him.

After conquering eastern Iran and captures Prince Oxyartes, Alexander marries Roxane. This was meant to be a political alliance, but it insults Barsine, Alexander's Persian mistress.

Alexander and his troops cross the Hindu Kush into northern India, they defeat King Porus in battle with elephants. After 7 months in India his soldiers refuse to keep going and want to go back home.

After a few years in Babylon before he can begin ruling his empire, Alexander gets sick and dies at the age of 32.
