  • The starting point

    The starting point
    Brystal is woken up by her mother in the morning and is found reading books, which is illegal. Mrs. Evergreen is worried for her daughter so she takes all of her books before her husband, high justice Evergreen gets home. Brystal is obviously upset, but she has no time to mourn the loss of her novels because it is her older brother Barrie's day to take his test to become a deputy justice like his older brother and his father before them.
  • The Library

    After being told to leave her home for standing up to her brother, Brystal goes and find a job at the library as a maid so she no longer has to rely on her brother to sneak her some. She lies to the owner of the library about her identity and purpose for finding employment, and she also lies to her family about where she was working. She figures out a schedule where she is able to clean the library during the day, read books at night, and then sneak home to sleep for 3 hours rinse repeat.
  • A Tale of Magic

    A Tale of Magic
    There is a closed off section of the library for high justices only where Brystal finds banned books, scrolls, and documents of her kingdom's true origins and everything they've lied about. She reads and reads over the course of a few days and finally she comes to a book about magic by a woman named Celeste Weatherberry. After reading an incantation in the book, Brytal discovers she has magic abilities and steers clear of the library for a while as she is filled with fear.
  • Bootstrap Correctional Facility

    Bootstrap Correctional Facility
    Brystal is eventually found out and is arrested and taken to trial where her brother Barrie unknowingly sentences her to death. Her father steps in and has her punishment changed to time at a correctional facility where girls with "diseases" like hers are. She meets a girl named Pip who she befriends and when she is caught sneaking blankets at night. Brystal stands up for the girl and is sentenced to the "dunker" when Madame Weatherberry intervenes and takes Brystal with her.
  • The Academy

    The Academy
    Madame Weatherberry finds and Brystal and 2 other students to take back to her magic academy where she teaches them about magic and witchcraft. Madame Weatherberry leaves often with 4 witches to fight the "Northern Conflict" and each time she comes back paler and even more fatigued looking. She eventually leaves the future of the academy to Brystal and makes her promise to kill the snow queen if she can't beat her.
