    Merger of the Battalions with al-Fajr Islamic Movement, Islamic Forefront Group, and the Fighting Faith Battalions.

    Sixteen different brigades and battalions within Ahrar al-Sham decided to merge under a new banner 'Army of the Free Men'. This new formation acted independently, under the leadership of Hashim al-Sheikh, and later left the movement to join Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
