    Babrak Karmall installed as ruler
    He took power during the Saur Revolution in 1978. Early on in his rule Khalqist intiated a purge, that lead to the exile of Karmal. He remained in exile until 1979. He only remained in office until 1981 and had a pretty uneventful time as the ruler.

    This was named operation Cyclone, code name for the CIA. The goal of this was to arm and finance the Afghan's. This was prior to the Soviet war. The funding started off at 20-30 million a year but eventually raised all the way up to 630 million in the late 80's. This proved to be succesful because the war the Soviet's didnt acommplish what they wanted to.

    The is a group of 7 Afghan Mujahideen Parties fighting against the Soviet and Democratic Republic of Afghanistan. This was meant to represent the United Nations and the Islamic Conference.

    This were formally known as the Geneva Accords. There were severeal principles to this accord. One was non-interference and non-intervention. This also included the timeable return for Soviet Troops out of Afghanistan.

    This begin after the resignation of the communist ruler Mohammad Najibullah. Hekmatyar started a campaign against the capital city of Kabul which marked the start of new war. The fighting was very violent in all of the major cities.

    This was to end all supply of guns to all parties in Afghanistan. This was meant to control the rule of the Tialban a up and coming terriosit group. This embargo eventually became a mandatory embargo.

    19 militants were invovled in this from the group Al'Queda. These were suicide attacks against U.S miltary targets. Over 3,000 people were killed during this terrible attack. This lead to the invasion of Afghanistan.
