  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act says that the British are raising taxes on any form of sugar and the money goes to the King, his heirs and successors. It was passed because Great Britain was in dept from the passed war. The Sugar Act was also known as American Revenue-Raising Act. The cost was six pence per gallon for foreign molasses.

  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    This act said that soldiers from the war could invade the colonists homes and the colonist had to give the soldiers food, water, shelter, and anything they wanted. The Quartering Act was passed because the colonist were upset about the taxing, so they forced the colonist to give the soldiers homes for the meantime. If the houses were too small, the soldiers would invade another colonists' building/home.

    The Stamp Act
    This act says that any form of printed paper is taxed. This included ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and playing cards. The Stamp Act was passed to get money for Great Britain.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    This act says that the imports, to the colonists, of paper, paint, lead, glass, and tea would be taxed. It was passed to give Great Britain more power and money. The colonists thought this was an abuse to power because Great Britain was practically stealing their money.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    This act says that all the tea the colonists bought would be taxed and the British would get the income. Great Britian passed this because they wanted to reduce the amount of tea that the colonists bought. This triggered the idea for the Boston Tea Party.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    All land that has been made part of the government of Newfoundland, since 1774, be made part of Quebec. This act was passed to meet the needs for Quebec. The colonists were angry because Great Britain was restricting the colonists' freedom.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    This act says that the port of Boston is closed and the residents of Boston must pay for the damages. This act was passed because of the Boston Tea Party. This was a way for Great Britain to punish the colonists of Boston.
  • MA Government Act and the Administration of Justice Act

    MA Government Act and the Administration of Justice Act
    This act says that Massachusetts cannot have a meeting unless The King was there to supervise. This was created because the colonists were out of control after The Boston Tea Party. Great Britain wanted as much power as they could get of the colonists so they were going to drastic measures.
