    Act 148 Implementation Period

    This is the period of time over which the requirements of Act 148 will be put in place.
  • ANR publishes the Materials Management Plan

  • Materials Management Plan goes into effect

    Facilities that offer services for managing trash (licensed transfer stations, drop-off centers, etc.) must also accept mandatory recyclables. Mandatory composting/donation of food residuals for generators of more than 104 tons/year, if composting facility is within 20 miles of generator.
  • Mandatory recyclables, Pay As You Throw (PAYT) & additional composting requirements

    Smaller generators must divert food scraps and yard debris from landfills. Increased public recycling container requirements.Transfer stations, drop-off centers, and haulers required to begin mandatory variable rate pricing (PAYT). Read Act 148
  • Landfill ban for all businesses and residents: Leaf & yard debris & clean wood. Additional food scrap diversion required.

    Landfill ban for all businesses and residents: Leaf & yard debris & clean wood. Haulers offering curbside trash collection must also offer collection of leaf & yard debris & clean wood. Mandatory composting/donation of food organics for generators of more than 26 tons/year, if composting facility is within 20 miles of generator. Read Act 148
