    moved to the Tennessee River about 50 miles south of Nashville it has been raining so the captins witch is him got a store house wile the soliders sleep in the tents in 4 inches of mud and he fill bad for them. and they are expecting there to be a battle but there hasent been one yet. circa April 1862

    Tennessee battleThe rebels attcked them and it was a war between the two. The rebels were about 800 strong while US did not amount to more than 600. But our boys whipped them badly, killing seventy odd and took 200 prisoners, 155 horses, 180 stand of arms and chased the balance of them 18 miles. All of the Hardin boys were in the fight except Absolom and his brother Jhon.

    He lost his office and he is now a Colonel's Orderly and mail carrier he dosent get paid nearly as much as he did as an officer and they are still camping and no rebels have showed up yet.
