    Dan Gerhard Brown was born on June 22, 1964, in Exeter, New Hampshire. He has a younger sister, Valerie (born 1968) and brother, Gregory (born 1974). Brown attended Exeter's public schools until the ninth grade.He grew up on the campus of Phillips Exeter Academy, where his father, Richard Brown, was a teacher of mathematics and wrote textbooks from 1968 until his retirement in 1997.His mother ,trained as a church organist and student of sacred music.Brown was raised an Episcopalian.

    In 1982, Brown gradated of Philips Exeter. Then he went to Amherst College to obtain a degree in English an Spanish.

  • Songwriter career

    After graduating,Brown started a musical career,producing a children's cassette entitled SynthAnimals,which includedtracks such as "Happy Frogs" and "Suzuki Elephants";it sold a few hundred copies.He then formed his own record company called Dalliance, and in 1990 self-published a CD,Perspective,targeted to the adult market,which also sold a few hundred copies.In 1991 he moved to Hollywood to pursue a career as singer-songwriter,pianist.To support himself,he taught classes at B.H.P School.
  • Change of mind

    While teaching at B.H.P School,he met Blythe Newlon. This lady, - twelve years his senior, was then employed as Artistic Director of the National Academy of Songwriters. As their relationship developed Blythe used her influence in attempts to further Dan Brown's musical career.However , Brown changed his mind about his musical carrer so he decided to return to New Hampshire and secured a teaching job, in English, at Phillips Exeter Academy, Blythe Newlon accompanied him.

    Writer career success

    In 1995 Dan Brown and Blythe, wrote '187 Men to Avoid: A Guide for the Romantically Frustrated Woman'. The following year Dan Brown became a full-time writer.When he and Blythe married in 1997, he published his first thriller, Digital Fortress, in 1998. He went on to write 'Angels and Demons' and 'Deception Point'. 'The Da Vinci Code' was published in March 2003 and sold 6,000 copies on the first day - going to the top of the New York Times' Best Seller list in the first week of publication.

    Donation-Lawsuits-Movie

    Dan Brown and his siblings donated $2.2 million to the Phillips Exeter Academy in 2004 establishing the "Richard G. Brown Technology Endowment".In 2005, he was twice unsuccessfully sued because of pladiarism.Then in 2006 a deal has also been struck with Columbia Pictures for a multi-million pound film adaptation of The Da Vinci Code, starring Tom Hanks as Langdon and directed by Ron Howard.

    Writing and donating

    'The Lost Symbol' was published and 'Angels and Demons' was adapted into a movie. In 2013 'Inferno' was published and it was adapted in 2016.On April 14, 2011, Dan and Blythe Brown created an eponymous scholarship fund to celebrate his 25th reunion from Amherst College, a permanently endowed scholarship fund at the college whose income provides financial aid to students there, with preference for incoming students with an interest in writing.In 2017 he published 'Origin'.
