WE was how the U.S acquired new lands throughout North America. It goes with the belief of manifest destiny, which was the idea that the U.S was destined to expand, because the U.S was chosen by God. WE is more sectionalism because when the U.S acquired all its current territory it was split into 3 sections, the North, South and West. Each section had its own economy and beliefs. This could have led to the civil war because the nation was divided on beliefs on slavery, which led to conflicts.

The compromise stated that 3/5ths of the states population would go towards the states reps. and taxation. This would make the southern states more powerful because they had more reps. and could win more votes. This is more sectionalism because it focused more on the areas with slaves, which is mostly the south. This led to the civil war because it would have made the north mad, because the south had more and more slaves. -
Southerners felt that the GVT was getting too powerful, and they had too much control. The southerners wanted more power for the states, and less for the federal GVT. They felt they were being robbed of their constitutional rights. This is more sectionalism, because they want the states to rule themselves, instead of the nation ruling as one. This led to the civil war because it made the south mad and caused conflict with the GVT and the north. -
It was a network of safe houses and routes that helped slaves escape to the north or Canada. It was founded my a Quaker abolitionist in Philadelphia. It contributed to sectionalism because it divided the nation more and focused more on north vs. south. It led to the civil war, because it would have made the north mad that the south was helping slaves escape.

The Compromise stated that a line would be created, to keep the free/slave territories equal. It started out saying that MO would be admitted to the union as a slave and ME as free. Then the territory from the LP came into play so they changed it. States below the line would have popular sovereignty, meaning that they could vote to decide if their state was slave/free. States above the line were free states. This led to the Civil War because it created conflict about territory being free/slave. -
The Compromise has 5 parts that benefited the North/South. In the end, the south benefited more than the north. The 5 parts stated that CA is a free state, the Fugitive Slave Act is passed, D.C. bans slave trade, TX, gets 10 mil, & creates new border. This law is more sectionalism because it is focused on the wants/needs of the north & south, not the whole country as one. This law led to the Civil War because the north or south argued and fought so they could have more power/ have equal power. -
It says that any escaped slave must be returned to their owner no matter where they are in the country. It was part of the Compromise of 1850. Both the north & south did not like the law, northerners didn’t want to enforce it, and southerners felt like it didn’t ensure the return of their slaves. This law is more sectionalism because it made more debate about slavery with the north & south. This led to the civil war because it caused more debate with the north & south and neither liked the law. -
The law states that the people of KS and NE would have popular sovereignty. It gets rid of the Missouri compromise. The law caused lots of violence in KS, because southerners rushed into KS to vote for slavery even though they didn’t live there. This made abolitionists very mad. This is sectionalism because it continued to divide the country over the debate on slavery. This led to the Civil War because it increased violence between the north and the south. -
The secession in 1860 was the main cause of the Civil War. 11 southern states withdrew from the union to protect their states' rights. The believed that if they didn't then the union would dissolve slavery. This is an example of sectionalism because it is dividing the nation, and disrupting the Union. This led to the civil war because, the south wanted control over slavery, and they wanted all the power to be in then states. The north wanted to abolish slavery completely so this made them mad.
