Westward expansion was an event where Americans started claiming more and more land to the west as they bought it from other countries. This action expanded America westward. This event is considered nationalism because it is for the good of the country, not just one state.

The Three-Fifths Compromise was a decision made by Congress that said for every five slaves only three counted towards representation and taxation, even though they could not vote. This was because in the House of Representatives, the population decided how many representatives each state got. This is nationalism because Congress is compromising on a argument between states for the good of the nation. -

Nat Turner's rebellion was a rebellion led by Nat Turner against slave owners that killed 65 white people. This was the deadliest slave rebellion in U.S. history. This action resulted in a massacure up to 200 Black people. This event is sectionalism because the enslaved virginians want to be free.

Harriet Tubman was an enslaved person before she escaped in 1849. After Harriet escaped she made 13 more missions saving about 70 people. This is sectionalism because slavery is only in the southern states. -

The Dred Scott decision was a very controversial topic, because a slave owner moved up north and his slave Dred Scott wanted to sue for his freedom. In the end the supreme court ruled against him. This is sectionalism because if he went free it would have angered the southern states.
