    James awakes on an airplane, with no recollection of the past three days. He has a hole in his cheek, is missing teeth, and is covered in urine and vomit. He does not know where he is headed.

    James is collected by his parents at the airport, where he is told that he is to be admitted to the best drug rehabilitation facility in the country. He agrees, but only after he forces his father to buy him a bottle of alcohol and a pack of cigarettes.

    James spends his first night in the facility, which is also his first night in detoxification. He experiences horrific hallucinations and sickness, he defecates and urinates on himself and starts screaming. Doctors have to inject him with sedatives for him to survive the night.

    James meets Lilly while he is in line to receive his medications. They are promptly separated, as women and men are not permitted to socialize with each other.

    James undergoes dual root canal surgery without anesthesia, as well as cavity repair. He is denied painkillers, as they would interfere with his detox.

    James starts seeing Lilly in the woods to talk. They begin to fall in love, even though the entire ordeal is prohibited and could result in him being kicked out of the clinic.

    James's mother and father attend family counseling while James is in rehabilitation. They eventually resolve their difference and James apologizes for being such a bad son.

    James's counselor assists him in dealing with his legal charges, which exist in several different states. James pleads guilty to all of them, accepting his responsibility for his actions.

    After Lilly runs away from the clinic, James sets out to save her. He finds her in a crackhouse, and manages to rescue her and take her back to the clinic without touching the drugs.

    James is retrieved by his brother from rehab, as he has completed his treatment.

    James sits down at a bar with a glass of whiskey, and manages to will himself not to drink it. This is the true proof of his recovery. After his release, he never relapses again.
