On this day, Artúr Görgey was born in Toporc, in a family in a rather difficult financial situation.

Originally, he wanted to be a teacher, Artúr Görgey, but listening to his father, he became a student at the Military Passenger Academy in Tullin.

From this time he was a lieutenant and a member of the noble bodyguard.

By this time he become a Lieutenant Hussar, however, later, in 1845 he left the army and began studying chemistry at the University of Prague.

He married. But that wasn't as bad as we think, because at this stage of his life, he was successful in chemistry and he managed the Toporc estate, after his uncle.

Görgey Artúr felt his duty to fight for freedom, so he joined the army (honvédség). Due to his experience and language skills, he was assigned to the Army Control Division of the Council of War. In October, he became a colonel, and later, a Major General.

After the Battle of Schwerchat, Görgey was the chief of the Felduna army, however, he had some arguements after he was forced to retreat against the Austrian superiority led by Prince Windiscgratz.

This was the greatest glory of Görgey's career. Mainly, he won in Hatvan, in Tápióbicske and in Isaszeg against Windisgratz's forces.

After a long and interesting live, he died in Budapest.
