A History of Panic! at the Disco

  • Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith form Pet Salamander

    Future lead guitar player, Ryan Ross, and future drummer, Spencer Smith, for US Pop Punk band Panic! at the Disco form the two piece band Pet Salamander after Ross receives a gutair from his father for Christmas.
  • Brent Wilson joins the Band

    Brent Wilson, a friend of Ross's joins the duo to play bass. Pet Salamander is renamed "Summer League" and Ross sings as they have not found a full time singer yet.
  • Brendon Urie joins the Band

    Lead singer Brendon Urie meets Wilson in a guitar class the two took during high school. Wilson convinced Urie to come and check out Summer League as a rythem guitar player. Eventually he is promoted to lead singer and rythem guitar.
  • Ross sends demos to DecayDance Records

    On a whim, Ross sends half recorded demos to the head of Deycaydance Records and Fall Out Boy bass player, Pete Wentz. Wentz hears the demos and signs them to his label within the month.
  • A Fever You Can't Sweat Out debuts

    After being signed and working to create an album, "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" is released on Sept. 27, 2005. Today the album is double platnum.
  • Brent Wilson fired from band

    Wilson is fired from the band and replaced by bass player Jon Walker. Wilson was cited for missing too many rehearsals and not taking touring seriously enough.
  • Second album "Pretty. Odd." is released

    Inspired by the works of The Beatles and The Beach Boys, after an extended creative hiatus, the band produces their second psychedellic album "Pretty. Odd." which is met with mixed reviews.
  • Jon Walker and Ryan Ross leave the band

    Citing "creative differences," lead guitar and bass guitar player Ryan Ross and Jon Walker leave the band to go and form their own new quintet, The Young Veins. Spencer Smith and Brendon Urie stay and continue on the Panic! At the Disco name.
  • Third album "Vices and Virtues" is released

    After taking some creative time off, Urie and Smith revamp the band and release their third studio album which is met with largely positive reviews.
  • Fourth studio album "Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die" released

    Trying to recreate their sound from their first album, Spencer and Urie produce their fourth studio album which is again met with mixed reviews.
  • Spencer Smith leaves the band

    Due to an addiction with drugs and alcohol, drummer Spencer Smith quits Panic! At the Disco to seek rehabilitation help. Later he confirmed he would not be coming back to the musical project, leaving Urie as the only original member left.
  • Fifth studio album "Death of a Batchelor" set to be released

    Despite only having one of its original members left, Panic! at the Disco plans to release their fifth studio album based around Urie's personal life.
