  • Prohibition Begins

    Prohibition began because many women blamed the society's problems on alcohol.
  • Teapot Dome Scandal

    The Teapot Dome Scandal happened because of Albert Fall. He was planning to transfer oil to different reserves. The oil reserves were usd for the navy's use when it was needed. But when Fall had control of the oil, he forgot the needs of the navy. He then leased the property to oil men for bribes.
  • Spirit of St. Louis starts its flight across the Atlantic

    Charles Lindbergh set off to fly across the Atlantic by himself and nonstop. Many other pilots had lown across the Atlantic, but not the way Lindbergh did. The flight took more than 33 hours. Charles forced himself to not fall asleep during the time.
  • The Spirit of St. Louis Lands

    The Spirit of St. Louis lands on May 21st of 1927. Aftrer 33 hours of flying across the Atlantic, Charles had made history.
  • President Hoover is Elected

    Hoover was elected in 1929. He wanted to make things easier and make a better economy. But, he seemed to fail. He made all kinds of new Activists Policies. He also made rich people and the government give money to charities. Many people blamed him for their terrible lives.
  • Black Tuesday

    Black Tuesday is known for the Stock Market crash. Many people lost their life savings and other people that borrowed money, were in debt. Shareholders started to sell before prices became lower.
  • Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act

    The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act raised prices on imported foreign goods so thatthe items couldn't compete with the US market. It added many problems however. The tariff was designed to help farmers by raising tariffs, but it did the exact opposite.

    Dust Bowl Years

    The Dust Bowl was a "black blizzard" that swept across the Great Plains around 1930 and lasted until about 1937. What happened was that all of this buildup of dirt and dust started becoming stronger because of the drought. It moved with such great force because of static electrcity. The Dust Bowl had grea effect on people. The storm caused respiratory problems and often people became ill and died.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt

    He won the election with his New Deal plan. Hoover's population decreased throughout the Great Depression, so Roosevelt had a good chance of winning.
  • Bonus Army March

    The Bonus Army was a protest where veterans demanded that Congress needs to pay the bonus they owe the veterans from WW1.
  • Civilian Conservation Corps.

    The CCC provided many jobs for men. The group rebuilt forests, dug irrigation ditches, and helped put out forest fires. Eventually other groups lik the CCC were created. The FDR claimed this was their favorite program.
  • Tennessee Valley Authority

    The TVA built dams and many power plants, which provided electricity in the Southeast. The TVA also improved the lives of many Americans.
  • Prohibition Ends

    Even when alcohol was prohibitied, many people made and sold liquor illegally. So the 21st admendment was ratified, which mad the 18th admendment ratified as well.

    The FDIC insurd bank deposits up to a total of 5000 dollars.
  • Works Progress Administration

    The WPA built many highways, harbors promoted conservation.WPA employed more than 8 million people and spent about 1.1 billion dollars.
  • Social Security Act

    This act was passed to give insurance to unemployed people. It also gave insurance to workers that were in an accident at work.
  • President Coolidge is Elected

    He became president because \William Harding died of a heart attack. He placed much of his trust in big businesses.
  • World War 2 Begins

    The US joined WW2 because of Pearl Harbor. The war was very dramatic and devestating and many men and women lost their lives.
