    On October 12th 2000 the USS Cole a Guided Missile Destroyer was attacked while on a refueling. It was attacted by suicide bombers in a inflatable boat which came and then detonated. Seventeen soliers were killed and 36 were wounded.

    On September 11th 2001 four groups of terrorists fhijacked four aircrafts. The first two crashed into the World Trade Center in New York, the third crashed into the Pentagon, the fourth crashed into a field in Pennslyvania. The first aircraft, American Airlines Flt 11 crashed into the North tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46AM. At 9:03 United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower of the WTC, At 9:37 American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. AT at 10

    Shuttle Columbia Disentegrates
    On February 1 2003 the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated during reentry. Columbia had completed a 16 day mission. Columbia was doomed from a few moments after launch when a large peice of foam that insulated the fuel tank broke off and hit the leading edge of the shuttles wing.     A serious of power failures in Northern Ohio that resulted in the power being cut off from most of the Northeast united states. The power began to fail at 4:07 PM August 10th 2003 and within minutes all of the Northeast was without power. It took over 24 hours to restore power to region.

    On Monday August 29th 2005 hurricane Katrina a category four storm struck the Gulf Coast near the mouth of the Mississippi River. The storm brought devestation to the Gulf Coast where it struck and destroying much of what was in its path. 48 hours before the hurricane hit the mayor of New Orleans ordered a mandatory evacuation of the city. The hurricane did not make a direct hit on New Orleans.
