Marriage Act
in 1839, Mississippi passed the Married Women's Property Act. This act allowed women to have more rights after they were married than is they were not. Anything that a woman had or inherited did not become the property of her husband but stayed solely hers. Elizabeth Cady Stanton pushed for this act. -
