Winfield Scott and the Anaconda Plan
Scott was a Union general who was involved in the Whig party. This candidate lost the election of 1852. He came up with a plan to ambush the cpnfederates by surrounding the Atlantic coasts, Mississippi river and the Gulf of Mexico, which was called the Anaconda Plan. Although this plan was detracted by the press, the artifice was used by other union generals as well. -
Robert E. Lee
Lee was a Confederate Commanding general of Northern Virginia. Before the war, President Lincoln offered Lee a position of commanding the Union army, but Lee declined that offer. -
Fort Sumter
First shots heard in Charleston, South Carolina. Major Robert Anderson relocated his army there to delay South Carolina's attacks. -

Jackson was a Confederate general under Robert E. Lee. He was well known. He died from complications of pneumonia after being shot at the battle of Chancelloerscille. in 1863. -
Ulysses S. Grant
Grant was the commander of the UNion Army. His army defeated Confederate troops which won the war. -
George McClellan
McClellan was the cheif general of the Union Army. He trained the army and prepared them for the war. -

This was a naval battle in the Civil War. The Confederates attempted to break Union blockade. -
Battle of Antiebellum
The battle was fought near Sharpsburg, Maryland and Antieham Creek. It was the official battle in the Civil War that was fought in northern territory. McClellan attacked General Lee's army. -
Battle of Fredricksburg
Battle fought between Lee and Burnside's army in Fredericksbug, Virginia. Burnside arranged to cross the Rappahannock River in order to reach Richmond before Confederate troops barricade the city. He failed to accomplish that. -
Emancipation Proclamation
President Lincoln issued this Proclamation, announcing that he would free all the slaves in the southern states. Although slavery still continued in the border states. -

Battle of Gettysburg
This battle was fought in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It was the turning point of the civil war. General Meade's army defeated Lee's army, resulting in a union victory. This ended confederate invasion in the north. -
Sherman's March
General William Tecumseh Sherman led his army on a march through Georgia, destroying everything that the Confederates may need to survive. His goal was to weaken the enemy. -
Appomattox Courthouse
This is where General Robert E. Lee of the Confederate army surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant of the Union in Appomattox, Virginia. Lee was actually forced to surrender after he was caught departing Richmond. Grant allowed him and his soldiers to return home. -
Licoln's Assassination
President Lincoln was shot at Ford's Theature in Washignton D.C. Confederate John Wilkes Booth was arrested. -
