Group-Photosynthesis

  • Jan val Helmont

    Jan val Helmont
Jan val Helmont loved nature. He began an experiment with a willow tree and proved that plants and trees don't gather their nutrients from the soil, but from the air.

  • Nehemiah Grew made the first succesful attempt to extract chlorophyll from a plant using oil as a solvent.

  • S. Hales discovers role of light and air in life.

    S. Hales discovers role of light and air in life.
Hales studied the role of air and water in the maintenance of both plant and animal life. -Aly & Sarah
  • Antione Lavoisier

    Antione Lavoisier
Antione Lavoisier reconized and named oxygen and hydrogen. He helped construct the metric system.

  • Joseph Priestly

    Joseph Priestly
HE WAS BORN MARCH 13 1773 AND DIED IN FEBUARY 6 1804. HE WAS A SCHOLAR & TEACHER THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE. IN HIS WRITINGS OF ELECTRICITY HE DISCOVERED MANY AIRS (GASES) INCLUDING OXYGEN. HE ALSO INVENTED SODAWATER. VITORIA & JENNIFER
  • Jan Ingenhousz

    Jan Ingenhousz
Jan Ingenhouz discovered that, in the light plants give off oxygen bubbles in the green parts of the plant, but in the shade, the bubbles stop and instead, realease carbon dioxide. Also, plants give off more oxygen in the light, then carbon dioxide in the dark. This meant that plants got their mass, not only from the soil, but also the air.

  • Julius Robert Mayer

    Julius Robert Mayer
By Aidan Whyte and Anthony Bonada Juius Robert Mayer found that oxidation was a primary source for plant enegy.
  • J V. Sachs

    J V. Sachs
Proved that chlorophyll is involved in photosynthesis. In addition he showed that starch is produced in chloroplasts as a result of the photosynthetic activities.
  • T,W. Engelmann

    T,W. Engelmann
T.W. Engelmann observed the movement of the chloroplasts. He hypothosized that the bacteria were moving in response to the oxygen in the algae. This was one of the first documented observations of positive aerotaxis in bacteria. One year later he discovered that purple bacteria use ultraviolent light in the same way. Katie & Alyssa V. : D
  • George Washington Carver learns to fertilize soil

George Washington Carver learns to fertilize soil
Learned potatoes and pecans fertilize soil making it better for other plants. It makes soil that became bad good again making it good to grow higher quality things such as peanuts. He also learned how carbon and stuff is in the soil.
  • F.F. Blackman

    F.F. Blackman
He discovered photsynthesis is a two step process. He only one happens in the light.
  • C.B. Van Niel

    C.B. Van Niel
He discovered the study of general microbiology to the United States and made key discoveries explaining the chemistry of photosynthesis. He studied the chemistry of photosynthesis.
He analized photsynthesis as it occurs in purple bacteria.-Julia Valenzuela, Isabella Jimenez, and Alysa Garcia
  • Norman Borlauge

    Norman Borlauge
Norman Borlaug started the Green Revolution in 1943 and it lasted to the late 1970`s. The Green Revolution industrialized the agricultural economy in India. It also vaguely helped the whole world. Because of the green revolution and its contribution to the world food supply he won a nobel peace prize. Berto Gonzalez #10 and Nicholas Haarlammert #13
  • melvin calvin

    melvin calvin
melvin calvin mapped the complete route the carbon travels through a plant during photosynthesis starting from its absorption as atmosphere carbon dioxide to it conversion into carbohydrates and other organic compounds
