    The Deliverance set sail to America, the land of opportunity. Aboard was John Rolfe along with other families. Seven out of Ten would be dead within a year. When they arrived they found that 500 people arrived before them. Only 60 remain. To survive they fed on horse. John Rolfe married a Native American chief's daughter named Pocahontas.

    The first settlers arrive at Plymouth by a ship called the Mayflower. In the first three months half of the pilgrims die. They founded on tobacco. Jamestown became the first Boonetown.

    The Poka Noka tribe teaches the pilgrims how to fertillize. Thanksgiving was celebrated.

    4,000 redcoats are sent to Boston to enforce the Townshend Acts.

    Production of ships was up to 200 ships a year. Rum was used as currency for slaves. 250,000 slaves were brought to America. 10% of British colony was black.

    Boston Massacre
    A group of colonists are fired upon by redcoats for hating the Townshend acts. This event started Boston's first weekly newspaper.

    The Boston Tea Party
    When the Tea Act was introduced colonists were infuriated. Then when Britsh officials refused to return three ships carrying taxed tea, colonists got on the ships and threw the tea into the Boston Harbor.

    The First Continental Congress convened in Philidelphia. This group is made up of 56 delegates who only want peace. They planned a boycott and pentioned the king for repeal of the acts.
  • Paul Revere's Warning

    Paul Revere's Warning
    After the Boston Tea Party, british troops were sent to Boston. On the night of August 18, 1775 the redcoat army started to move across the Charles river into Lexington. Paul Revere rode on horseback through present day Somerfield, Medford, and Arlington to warn patriots and colonists of the redcoats.

    British Arrive
    After the American army won the Siege of Boston George Washington brought the army to defend New York. The British under command of General William Howe slowly brought there army and, reinforced there ships over the next month and a half.
  • Battle of Long Island

    With 400 ships and 32,000 soldiers the British clearly outnumbered Washington. The British fired cannons at Washington's army. After one hour the british used 2,500 cannonballs. Washington had to retreat. 1,000 soldiers were captured by the Britsh Army, but 9 out of 10 prisoners died on British ships.

    A fire that started for an unknown reason started at New York. It took two days for 1/4 of the city to be destroyed.

    This Peace treaty with Britain formally ended the American Revolutionary War. The treaty gave America all land East of the Mississipi River and south of the Great Lakes except Florida.

    Louisiana Purchase
    Thhomas Jefferson bought the more land than anyone in history. A total of five billion acres for around three cents an acre.

    William Clark and Meriwether Lewis both set out on the first expedition to the Pacific coast by land and then back. Ode to Joy was written, and they discovered 122 species of animal and 178 species of plants.
