Jamestown Settlement
A group of 104 men and boys setteled on the banks of Virginia's James River. This is were they had an encounter with Viginia Indians that caused a war. -
Mayflower Compact Written
The Mayflower Compact is a written agreement composed by a consensus of the new Settlers arriving at New Plymouth in November. The Mayflower Compact was drawn up with fair and equal laws, for the general good of the settlement and with the will of the majority. -
Petition of Rights
Charles I's third parliament in four years met to discuss recent grievances against the way the King had been treating them. Sir Edward Coke came up with the Petition of Rights which made reference to the Magna Carta which stated the ideal treatment a King should abide by. -
English Bill of Rights
One of the basic documents of English constitutional law. This made it possible for Englishmen to possess certain immutable, civil and political rights. -
Albany Plan of Union
The Albany Plan of Union was proposed by Benjamin Franklin at the Albany Congress in attempt to form a union out of the colonies. He thought it was necessary for defense and other general purposes. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was placed on all American colonist requiring them to pay taxes for every printed piece of paper they used. The money collected paid the costs of keeping the American Frontier safe. -

The townspeople of Boston harassed Private Huge White, who was gaurding the Customs House. He called for help and townspeople were hurt and 8 got shot and 2 died. -

Boston Tea Party
Boston placed a act (tax) on tea. Men dressed as Indians and boarded the tea ships and when at the Harbor dumped it into the sea. -
First Continental Congress
The meeting of the congress was made a year befor the Boston Tea Party but gained little support due to the event. It took place until late October to right the wrongs done to the colonies. -
American Revolutionary War Begins
The Revolutionary War in America 1775-1783 led to the birth of a new nation. The Treaty of Paris ended this war. -
Second Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress was met by 12 of the 13 colonies to discuss war related management and to move forwards with independence. By this time the American Revolutionary War with Lexington and Concord were already started. -
Declaration of Independence
the D.O.I is a preable that explains self- government against British rule, reservation to conduct trade and foreign alliances and necessary rights to raise war. This document was written by Thomas Jefferson. -
Articles of Confederation
These articles were made during the Revolutionary War and during the time the Declaration of Independace was being made to establish a government that could defeat England and defend its freedom. The war was successful and the articles met equal to the demands. -
Shays Rebellion
A series of attackts against the tax system. Attackts led by Daniel Shay and followed by other war verterans and farmers. -
Constitutional Convetions
This was a meeting a delegates in which terms were not to be discussed or put to debate outside the State House. Delegates were to adopt a new constitution or revise an exsiting constitution. -
Connecticut Compromise
This was an agreement between large and small states, reached during the Constitutional Convention. This gave every individual state legislative structure and equal representations. -
Philadelphia Convention
Met in May through September to address problems with the U.S following independence from Great Britain. This meeting was only to revise the Articles of Confederation, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton desired to make a whole new government.
