    The Mayflower Compact is a written agreement composed by a consensus of the new Settlers arriving at New Plymouth in November. The Mayflower Compact was drawn up with fair and equal laws, for the general good of the settlement and with the will of the majority.

    Charles I's third parliament in four years met to discuss recent grievances against the way the King had been treating them. Sir Edward Coke came up with the Petition of Rights which made reference to the Magna Carta which stated the ideal treatment a King should abide by.
