Simon von Stampfer was born in 1792 and he died in 1844. He was an inventor as well as a mathematician and his most famous invention is his version of the Zoetrope which he named the stroboscopic disk in 1832. After reading the 'Journal of Physics and Mathematics' Stampfer became aware of experments that were carried out by Michael Faraday who was a British Physicist, this is what inspired him to carry out his own experiments which lead to his invention

  • Eadweard Muybridge started his experiments with photographing in motion

Eadweard Muybridge was born April 1830 and was an English photographer who took photographs of motion an example of this is ‘The Horse in Motion’, this is where Muybridge photographed a racing horse in motion using a series of cameras that were triggered when the horse ran past by string. These images were then placed on a disk viewed in a machine called a Zoopractiscope.
