    In 1790, the first census was taken and they found less then four million people in the country. In between 1790 and 1800 the population tripled because of a high birthrate.

    There was a 35 percent change between 1790s population & 1800s.They added new categories to the 1800 census too. Farmers and their families moved to urban areas because of new factory jobs in 1800.

    The number of americans in the united states had more then tripled, to about 13 million in 1830! The 1830 census had shown that people lived more in the urban areas then the rural areas, the urban areas were growing much faster.

    In 1950, a big change happened, there were women that were able to do whatever they wanted with their life. Women became more successful then men. Women graduated highschool more then men did. They could be police officers, construction worksers, ect.

    In the 2000 census, there are new categories that they put in. The new categories are based on demographic changes. In the census, there were more birthrates then deathrates. We have better health care now so more people are living longer. Since the 1820s more than 60 million immigrants have come to the United States. Today we have fewer people in families too.
