The French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was a fight between Britain and France that lasted from 1754-1763. Because the British ended in debt, they began to demand more from the colonies. -
Stamp Act
With this, the colonists fought back and created the Stamp Act Congress and the British repealed the act. Later, the British enforced the Declaratory Act which said that the British government was superior to them. -

Boston Tea Party
The British East India Company had controlled all tea trading between India and the British colonies. As a result of the tea tax, the colonies refused to buy the British tea. Instead, they smuggled tea in from Holland. -
First Continental Congress
This event helped develop organization when the revolutionary War started, eventually becoming the 2nd Continental Congress who created the Continental Army- making George Washington its commander. This is important because Washington ended up becoming America's first president. -
Battle at lexington and Concord
This event marked the first shots between American and British troops. Also, first succes in battle for U.S.Important since the Americans know they have a chance in battle againnst British troops. -
Fort Ticonderoga
the capturing of this fort was the first official victory in the war. This helped stall an attack by the British from Canada.Significance: Americans become more confident in winning independence. Gave them one-up after the British attack was stalled. -
Benedict Arnolds failed attack on
Traitor to American army, Arnold joined Britain's forces. Led U.S. to kill Britain's Major John Andre.Significance: makes Americans question trust. With Andre dead, Arnold takes over and is eventually killed. -
Declaration of Independence signed
This is very significant because this document declared the U.S. independent from Britain.I find this significant because this is the first foundation of the United States as a country. Important to me since I live here.
