A crazy guy on the street approaches cal and tells him that the Ormund Singularity is happening, he says "Hide and lay low untill midnight December 31st of next year" page 183. This is the start of numerous things in Cal's life, like his dad dying only 12 months ago.

When Cal and his Uncle Rafe go to their usual New Year's destination they go out on a boat that after midnight a major storm brues upand throw's them both overboard. Uncle Rafe washes up on shore but Cal is then attack by sharks, he manages to get out in time.

As they get in the door they are astounded that the house is trashed but nothing has been taken except something from an unopened lugage bag that inside a case with a missing spot for something that may or may not have been there in the first place

When he breaks in he finds the enveloped with letters from his deceased father and more drawings that didn'tmake sense. He also finds a gun in a safe, as Cal is about to leave Rafe gets home and Cal is nearly busted but he just goes unnoticed.

Following Rafe into the chamber, Cal and Boges are kicked out and forced to break into the chamber. They find more drawings that also confuse them.

When Cal is taken he is repettedly asked about the Ormund Singularity but he doesn't know anything about it as well. He is then stuffed into a closet and finds an escaped route through the roof.

When Cal gets home he finds Gabbi and Rafe on the floor he manages to get Gabbi breathing again butonly just as people enter the house. He makes a quick get away. Cal is now a fugative and goes into hiding, he finds an abandoned house that is a great safe spot.

Cal is kidnapped again but this time he is stuffed into a hole in the ground and it starts to fill up with gasoline...
