    Ramses the second was born in 1300BC, the second child of Seti I(Father) and Queen Tuya(Mother).He was born near the eastern nile, Delta. His older sister was named Princess Tia or Princess Tiya and he may have had a younger sister, princess Henutmire.

    In 1304 Ramses II started building the Ramseum, a temple to record and show proudly the wealth and achievment of Egypt.

    Married Nefertari
    Ramses married Nefertari at the age of 15, her being 13. Nefertari became one of the two Great Royal Wives, but she remained the most important of his wives for the next 20-25 years. Nerfertari was also the only wive of Ramses II that had a temple dedicated to her, six statues of her eldest children stand at the front.

    The battle of Kadesh took place in 1274BC in the city of Kadesh on the Orontes river against the Egyption Empire and the Hittite Empire. The object of the war was whoever won ruled the Hittite land and got to expand there territory into the losers.

    Ramses retreated on the first day of battle leaving the Hittite empire in victory. The numbers of the Hittite Empire overwhelmed the Egyption with only 20,000 men and the Hittite Empire had 50,000.

    Peace treaty
    The exact date of the signing of the peace treaty is unknown but it was only a short time after the battle of Kadesh. Each empire wrote a treaty in it's own language but the two diferent treaties are slightly different. The Hittite treaty says the Eygptions came begging for peace and they say the reverse. The truth is that niether empire could afford to keep fighting because there were other empires threatning them. The ending of the peace was marriage between ramses and the hittite princess.

    Nefertari died

    Nefertari died
    On Nefertari's death in 1254 Ramses said "My love is unique—no one can rival her, for she is the most beautiful woman alive. Just by passing, she has stolen away my heart." which as long as the Abu Simbel, Nefertari's temple, shows that she was prominent to Ramses. Nefertari's tomb is considered the most beutiful in the Valley of the queens and has glorius wall paintings of her moving into the aftterlife.

    Ramses was one of the longest lived pharaohs and lived to the age of 91 yet some say he lived to 100. His tomb is located in the valley of the kings. His tomb has been robbed and raided so many times that there is barley anything left even though his mummy has been uncovered.
