On May 27, 1862 the regiment assisted at the battle of Hanover courthouse.

On June 27, 1862 the regiment fought back a band of confederate rebel under Greggs South Carolina brigade.

The Biggest fight the regiment was involved was the Second Battle of Manassas or Second battle of Bull Run in August 1863.They were attacked hard by General James Longstreet and his Texas Brigade but were able to keep them back long enough until General Hazlet’s Battery. Longstreet was easily outnumbered and the Brigade lost more than 330 men. It was the greatest victory of any regiment in the entire Civil War.

May 6th 1863 At the Battle of Chancellorsville was the unit’s last taste of combat.
