At six, Miggery, or Mig, was motherless. Soon after Mig's mother died, her father sold Mig to another man, leaving Mig absolutly alone. ( photo credit: http://www.taconline.net/col/especiales_ficha2.asp?id_especial=51)
-
Uncle, as the man demanded Mig to call him, loved to give Mig clouts everytime Miggery messed up. This resulted in Mig not hearing well, which then lead to not following directions, all leading to clouts to the ear.
-
When Miggery turned seven, her Uncle wanted nothing to do with it, so her gift from Uncle was a clout to the ear. However, on that day, the royal family passed, and the princess waved. Inside Mig, she felt for the first time hope.
-
Young Princess Pea was riding on a horse with her family when she saw a girl about her age.
-
After seeing the princess, Mig wanted to be a princess. When she told Uncle, his response was a clout to the ear, but still she hoped.
-
Chiaroscuro, or Roscuro, is born and when he was young, he nibbled on Gregory's rope. Gregory lit a match in Roscuro's face, making Roscuro love light.
-
A prisoner arrived at the dungeon, and Botticelli, Roscuro's friend, told Roscuro to torture the prisoner.
-
Roscuro did as Botticelli told him to and took the prisoner's cloth. Roscuro found out he didn't want the cloth and he must go upstairs to get more light.
-
Despereaux is small, has big ears, and was born somehow with his eyes open. Despereaux is, as his mother puts him, "such the disappointment."
-
Roscuro ventured upstairs, and when he stepped into the light for the first time, a mouse was born somewhere else. That mouse was different than others, just as Roscuro is different.
-
Roscuro went to a party in the banquet hall. While hanging from the chandelier, Princess Pea spotted him. She screamed, "Rat!" Roscuro realized how ugly the word was and that he didn't want to be a rat, so he accidentally fell. Roscuro landed right in Queen Rosemary's soup.
-
When everyone was having fun at a party in the castle, Princess Pea spotted a rat. She screamed, "RAT," but nobody listened but the rat, who then fell.
-
The Queen died when she saw Roscuro in her soup. Roscuro hadn't ment to kill anybody, so he was walking away when her remembered the prisoner. Roscuro looked back, and the look of hate on Pea's face broke Roscuro's heart.
-
Princess Pea was the only one who saw the rat leave, so when it looked back, Pea gave the rat a nasty look.
-
Roscuro put his broken heart back together with hate and revenge, but it it back together wrong. Roscuro went back to the dungeon, but took the Queen's spoon first.
-
While searching for crumbs, Despereaux hears a sweet sound. He tells his sister about how it sounds like honey. She just says, "You can't hear honey," so Despereaux goes back to looking for crumbs, but not really paying attention to anything but the sweet sound.
-
Roscuro was planning his revenge on Pea in the dungeon. While he was doing that, a girl came to the castle, and a mouse was listening.
-
Miggery was in Uncle's house when a soldier came by to collect all of the soup utensils. The soldier realized the Uncle owned Mig. That was against the law, so he took Mig to the castle.
-
While a certain mouse was listening, the king was playing his gutair for Princess Pea.
-
Merlot, Despereaux's sister, tried to teach Despereaux to nibble books. Instead of eating the book, however, he taught himself to read the book.
-
Despereaux followed the sweet sound that turned out to be music. The music came from the human king. His daughter, the princess Pea liked the little mouse. Despereaux loved Pea.
-
Pea was listening to her father play music when a mouse came. Pea liked the mouse.
-
Furlough saw Despereaux next to Princess Pea. He bolted and told his father.
-
While Furlough was secretly watching Pea and Despereaux, the pea touched Despereaux's head.
-
After a while, the king realized that Despereaux was a mouse and not a bug as the king had thought. He told Pea to put the mouse down and chased Despereaux away.
-
When the king shooed away Despereaux, Despereaux told the princess his name, and Pea repeated it.
-
Furlogh told his father, Lester, about Despereaux and the Princess. Lester was very ashamed, and called the Mouse Council using a drum he had.
-
The Mouse Council was going to decide Despereaux's fate before Despereaux even had a chance to deny the things they accused him of. Despereaux was going to the dungeon.
-
Furlough was to take Despereaux to the Mouse Concil. Furlough found Despereaux in the library. Furlogh lead Despereaux to the Mouse Council.
-
Despereaux was to be sent to the dungeon. He fainted at the thought.
-
Despereaux was to have a red thread around his neck, and the thread master said to be brave, so Despereaux would.
-
Despereaux is going to the dungeon, and the only words his mothers says to him is, "Adieu."
-
Furlough and another mouse pushed Despereaux into the dungeon, sending him falling, falling, falling.
-
Despereaux seemed unhurt after his fall, but as he said those magical words he loved, someone aswered in return.
-
A man named Gregory the jailer said he would save Despereaux's life if Despereaux told him a story, so Despereaux told the jailer a story.
-
Miggery was to take a spool of red thread to the princess, and the princess was very nice to Miggery. Louise thought that Mig took too long, so she gave Mig a clout to the ear.
-
Mig was good at nothing. Every chore she did, Mig somehow messed up. Finally, Cook sent Mig to the dungeon where she would feed Gregory the jailer.
-
Miggery sang a little song about how she would be the princess. From that, Roscuro knew she wouuld be helpful, so Roscuro stayed near Mig. Then, Mig found Gregory.
-
Gregory told Mig not to mess with rats, but Roscuro said to him that he can warn Mig all he wants, but he will get his way.
-
Mig was going back up when she heard a rat. The rat (Roscuro) wanted to 'help Mig become a princess.' Really all he wanted was to bring the princess to the dungeon forever, and Despereaux hear it all.
-
NOT A REAL CHAPTER. JUST TO LET THE ONLOOKER KNOW THAT NOW THE CHARACTER'S STORIES WILL COME TOGHETHER.
-
Mig saved Despereaux from drowning in oil, but Cook told Miggery to kill him. Instead, Mig missed and cut off Despereaux's tail.
-
Despereaux cried himself to sleep over his lost tail, and in his dream the knight in shining armor really was just nothing, like happily ever after.
-
While Despereaux was sleeping, Mig came to take away the princess, and really all Roscuro wanted Mig for was to chain the princess up and leave the princess in the dungeon forever.
-
Princess pea dreamt that her mother gave her soup and then disapeared. Pea woke up and found Mig with a knife. Roscuro helped Pea button up her gown as Pea licked her lips to try to taste the soup.
-
As Mig lead Pea down the stairs to the dungeon, Pea was feeling empathy for Mig. In Pea's heart, there was hatred for the rat that killed the queen, the sorrow of her mother's death, and empathy for others.
-
When Mig, the Princess, and the rat were in the dungeon, Mig said she wanted something, but Roscuro said he didn't care. Mig got very sad, and Pea asked Mig want she wanted. Mig wanted her ma. Miggery wouldn't chain Pea up, so Roscuro wouldn't lead the girls upstairs.
-
When Pea was in the dungeon with Miggery, Mig talked about how she wanted to be a princess, but Roscuro said nobody cared. Princess Pea did, though. Pea asked Miggery what she wanted, and Mig wouldn't chain Pea up, so they stayed in the dungeon.
-
Despereaux woke up in the morning, but the Princess was already gone. The flour covered mouse went to find the king so that the king may know where his daughter is.
-
When Despereaux found the king, the king was crying a river. When Despereaux found the king, he tried to tell him where his daughter was but the king wouldn't listen, so Despereaux when to find the threadmaster.
-
When Despereaux was looking for the king, he saw the mouse council. Lester asked forgiveness, and Despereaux forgave him, but when Despereaux asked the rest of the mouse council to rept, nobody did, so Despereaux left.
-
Despereaux went to see the threadmaster, Hovis, tto get the thread to find his way out of the dungeon as Gregory once did. Hovis gave Despereaux the thread and good luck.
-
Despereaux was very tired when he got to the kitchen with the thread. Unluckily for Despereaux, Cook was IN the kitchen.
-
Despereaux pushed the spool of thread into the kitchen, and Cook caught Despereaux, but let him go. She laughed and was glad he wasn't the guards, here to take her to the dungeon for making soup. That laughter hurt.
-
Cook gave Despereaux some soup, and he went on his way to the dungeon after he told Cook that the soup was perfect.
-
Despereaux acidentally lets the thread roll down the dungeon stairs, and Bottcelli smelled Despereaux's blood, oil and flour, tears, and soup.
-
Despereaux tried to find the thread, but it was lost. Instead of the thread at the bottem of the stairs, Despereaux found Botticelli. Boticelli told Despereaux to hohld onto his tail and he would take Despereaux to Pea, and Boticelli would, but then eat Despereaux there.
-
Botticelli did indead lead Despereaux to the princess, and Despereaux saw light.
-
Despereaux comes, but Roscuro wants to eat Despereaux. Mig acts fast, well, she acted faster than she normally would and tries to cut of Roscuro's head, but missed.
-
Mig chopped off Roscuro's tail, and when Roscuro turned to look, Despereaux put the needle to Roscuro's heart, but when Roscuro smelled Despereaux's whiskers, he smelled... SOUP. The memories flooded back to him, and Roscuro begged for death, but instead, all of the good people went upstairs to eat soup.
-
Despereaux didn't marry the princess, but had many adventures with her. Roscuro was allowed to go upstairs now, and Despereaux's family saw Despereaux eating with the princess. Hovis saw too, and smiled at Despereaux.
